Eriko Tanaka was looking for a way to brand her company that focused on traditional Japanese sweets. She wanted to combine her Japanese heritage with a look that would also have an appeal to Americans; hence the red, white, and blue colors.
The business package was crafted following the same guide as the branding to keep the look consistent and recognizable.
Package design was developed so that it tied into the brand identity. The packaging held the mascot and was designed under the idea of omiyage; the Japanese tradition of gift-giving.
